Every parent might be expecting something from their children. In my case, my dad wanted me to don the cap of a Civil Engineer. Hmm... I was able to fulfill his wish, but with a slight change, a computer engineer instead.
Now I am in his shoes. A father of a baby girl. What would I wish... my daughter to be. A Computer Engineer like me? Lead Architect of Mashithantu Malayalam Works? "heir to my throne, defender of my kingdom." (Priam-Troy). Whenever she throws a blank look, my relatives laughs at me saying that she is thinking about Mashithantu.
Should I dream of making her a Doctor (may be the first one in our family) or a Business Analyst/CA like her uncle/aunt? or a Pharmacist like her one and only one ammayi (sister of her father). or A high school teacher like her great grandfather?
Basically I don't dream any of these. I don't mind if she doesn't choose computer field, or will be happier if she choose to become Bio/Nano technology specialist or even an agriculturist. What I can do maximum is that give an introduction to all these fields and let her choose.
Okie... that is a polite way of dreaming about our children.
But I've a dream about her. It is a simple one. I want to see that she drives Samson Thrissur and bring it back to Bangalore. I am not sure whether I can keep Samson healthy for next 20 years. So a variations of the dream are.... fly a helicopter in the same route or simply bi-cycle 600 KMs.
Her father didn't had a chance to fulfill many of his wacky dreams and now he himself think that he is too old to try those adventurous acts. :( Anyway, he has his own excuses like every other lazy guys- 'No Time'

1. ഈ നിഘണ്ടുവിനെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് നിഘണ്ടുവാക്കാന് "English Dictionary" എന്ന റേഡിയോ ബട്ടണ് അമര്ത്തുക. തിരിച്ചു മലയാളം നിഘണ്ടു ആവശ്യമെങ്കില് "Malayalam Dictionary" എന്ന റേഡിയോ ബട്ടണ് അമര്ത്തുക.

ഒരു മതവിശ്വാസിയും അതിനേക്കാളുമുപരി ദൈവവിശ്വാസിയുമായ എനിക്ക് ഞാന് ശരി എന്നു വിശ്വസ്സിക്കുന്ന നല്ല കാര്യങ്ങള് എന്റെ മക്കളെ പഠിപ്പിക്കാന് അവകാശമില്ലേ? അങ്ങിനെ അവനെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചില്ലെങ്കില് അവന് ചോദിക്കില്ലേ? എന്തേ അച്ഛന് എന്നെ ഇതൊന്നും പഠിപ്പിച്ചില്ല എന്ന്. ഞാന് പഠിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ എതിരായി സ്കൂളില് മതം വേണ്ട എന്നു പഠിപ്പിക്കുമ്പോള് അതു മതനിന്ദയായേ എനിക്കു കണക്കാകാനാകൂ. ഒരു പോവഴിയുള്ളത് സര്ക്കാര് സിലബസ്സില് കുട്ടികളെ പഠിപ്പിക്കാതിരുന്നാല് മതി. അങ്ങിനെ എത്ര മതവിശ്വാസികള്ക്ക് സ്വന്തം മക്കളെ ചിലവേറിയ മറ്റു സ്കൂളുകളില് പഠിപ്പിക്കാനാകും?
വലുതാകുമ്പോള് ഇഷ്ടമുള്ള മതം തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തോട്ടേ എന്നു പറയുന്നു. തിരിച്ചായാല് എന്തു കുഴപ്പം? വലുതാകുമ്പോള് അവനു വേണ്ട എന്നു തോന്നുകയാണെങ്കില് അവന് മതം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചോട്ടേ? ഒരു പക്ഷേ അതു പാര്ട്ടി മാറുന്നതിനേക്കാളും എളുപ്പമായിരിക്കും. ഉദ്ദാഹരണത്തിന്... CPM ഇല് നിന്ന് BJP യിലേക്കോ തിരിച്ചോ പാര്ട്ടി മാറാന് ശ്രമിച്ചവരോട് തിരക്കിയാല് മനസ്സിലാകും ഇതിലും എളുപ്പത്തില് മുസ്ലീം മതത്തില് നിന്നു് ഒരാള്ക്കു് ഹിന്ദുവാകാമെന്ന്.
എന്റെ അഭിപ്രായത്തില് മതം ഇല്ലാതാക്കിയതു കൊണ്ട് ഒരു പ്രശ്നത്തിനും പരിഹാരമാകാന് പോകുന്നില്ല. ഈ ലോകത്തിലെ എല്ലാ പ്രശ്നത്തിനും കാരണക്കാര് മതങ്ങളല്ലല്ലോ? കണ്ണൂരിലും നന്ദിഗ്രാമിലും ആളുകള് മരിച്ചു വീണത് ഒരു മതവും പറഞ്ഞിട്ടല്ലല്ലോ? എന്തു പ്രത്യയശാസ്ത്രമായാലും അടിച്ചൊതുക്കാന് നോക്കിയാല് അത് കൂടുതല് ശക്തി പ്രാപിക്കുകയേയുള്ളൂ.... അതു ഇപ്പോള് കമ്മ്യൂണിസ്റ്റുക്കാരായാലും മതവിശ്വാസിയായാലും വ്യത്യാസം വരാന് വഴിയില്ല.
ഇനി ഒരു പ്രസക്തമായ ചോദ്യമുള്ളതു്... ജനങ്ങളാല് തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട ഒരു സര്ക്കാരിനു അവരുടെ ഇഷ്ടത്തിനനുസരിച്ച് അവര്ക്കു നല്ലതെന്നു തോന്നുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങള് വിദ്യഭ്യാസ പാഠപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിചേര്ക്കാന് അവകാശമില്ലേ? അങ്ങിനെ ഒരു കീഴ്വഴക്കം ഇപ്പോഴില്ല. ഇനി അതു തുടങ്ങിവച്ചാല് ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന ഭവിഷത്ത് എന്താണെന്നു വെച്ചാല് ഒരു പക്ഷേ... ക്വിറ്റ് ഇന്ത്യാ സമരം ഒറ്റു കൊടുക്കാന് വല്ലവരും ശ്രമിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ എന്ന ചോദ്യത്തിനുത്തരം കണ്ടു പിടിക്കാന് വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥികള് നടക്കേണ്ടി വരും... ഇന്ത്യ-ചൈന യുദ്ധത്തിനിടയില് ബംഗാളില് നടന്ന ബന്ത് ഇന്ത്യന് സൈനികരെ സഹായിക്കാനായിരുന്നോ അതോ തടയാനായിരുന്നോ എന്നു കണ്ടു പിടിക്കാന് കുരുന്നുകള് ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടും.
അവിടെ കൊണ്ടു പ്രശ്നം തീരുമോ.... അടുത്ത അഞ്ചുകൊല്ലത്തില് ഭരണം മാറുമ്പോള് പഠിക്കേണ്ടി വരുന്നതു ഒരു പക്ഷേ അടിയന്തിരാവസ്ഥയെ പറ്റിയും സിക്ക് കൂട്ടകൊലയെ കുറിച്ചാകും. സത്യാവസ്ഥ കുട്ടികള് അറിയുന്നതു നല്ലതല്ലേ എന്ന ചോദ്യം ന്യായമായും ഉയരാം. മറ്റു കുഴപ്പമൊന്നും ഉണ്ടാവില്ല... സമരങ്ങളെ പറ്റിയും രാഷ്ട്രീയ കൊലപാതകങ്ങളെ പറ്റിയും ചൂടുള്ള വാര്ത്ത കണ്ടു കൊണ്ട് രാവിലെ ഉണരേണ്ടി വരും.
ഈ പാഠപുസ്തകങ്ങള് പിന്വലിക്കുന്നതിനെ പറ്റി എനിക്കു അഭിപ്രായമില്ല. കാരണം ഞാന് അടക്കം കൊടുത്ത Tax കൊണ്ട് അടിച്ചെടുത്ത ഈ പുസ്തകങ്ങള് വീണ്ടും അച്ചടിപ്പിച്ചാല് അതിന്റെ നഷ്ടം എനിക്കു തന്നെ. [കാല്കാശ് Tax കൊടുക്കാത്തവര്ക്ക് എന്തു തല്ലി പൊളിക്കാം... ആര്ക്ക് ഛേദം?] ചെയ്യേണ്ടിയിരുന്നതു് ഇതിനു മുമ്പായിരുന്നു. രഹസ്യമായിട്ടല്ല ഒരു പാഠപുസ്തക ചര്ച്ച നടത്തേണ്ടതു്. സ്വന്തം രാഷ്ട്രീയ ആശയങ്ങള് പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കാന് എതൊരുവനും അവകാശമുണ്ട്. പക്ഷേ അതിനു പാഠപുസ്തകങ്ങളെയല്ല ആശ്രയിക്കേണ്ടതു്. എന്തോ... പാര്ട്ടി സ്റ്റഡിക്ലാസിനൊന്നും ആളെ കിട്ടുന്നില്ല എന്നു തോന്നുന്നു.

What is this? Ice Cubes? You might be wondering that this lake is at northern pole !!!
If you happen to take a short cut from HAL Airport to Bellandur Junction, you will never forget this lake and the bund road. The first reason is the stinky smell as soon as you enter to a small bride over lake side river. The village men wash their buffaloes, cows etc in this lake side area. And I guess, they have no shed for their cattle. so they dump cow dung on this lake. What you see in the picture is a kind of foam formed due to a bit heavy stream of water from the lake to this river.
Second things is the beauty of sky at evening, mist spread over the lake and of course a cool breeze...and how long this lake would be here in Bangalore? As long as someone thinks 361 hectare is good enough to start an industry!!! Somebody says that there exists a small lake in Koramangala. Now it is a sports village residential layout. [link]. Did anybody see it?
Third reason is that you can escape from Marathahalli signal and Samson's odometer indicates that this short cut saves 2KMs.

...In this late twenties ...
I am experiencing the meaning of a word for the first time in my life... perseverance !!
And the result is ... a Malayalam Nighantu. For the last one year, myself and my crew were involved in this mammoth effort and still need to travel a lot before we sleep.

I think somebody want to go home early on this pooja Holidays. His Manager might not approved his leave or so. What will he do? He called up on to HP office and placed an 'info' : "somebody planted a bomb at HP building, Bagmane tech park, Bangalore".
Now security official are leading the original fire 'drill'. Many people left their precious car in the parking slot and ran away for their life. Many drive out with their vehicle and created a long traffic Jam in the Lake Side road. (it may lead to block the fire force)
when I came out of the office building with my bike I saw all chicks in the building setting their eyes on our building to see a original bomb blast. I felt like a gate picketing during my college days.
Now I am safely blogging at my home. Not at all sure whether our building actually blasted or not. However my office phone is working and remote login to my desktop is also working. (FYI I am not working for HP and I am not going to my home town tonight)
